You may have visited Dumfries House since Prince Charles started the project of opening the house and estate to the public. But in the last year, there has been a tremendous amount of work done in the walled garden and arboretum. Wander around the estate and admire the 300 year old trees and the magnificent Adam bridge, which has now been restored. Much of the work has been done by local volunteers. Stay overnight at the Dumfries House Lodge, the on-site guest house or try a farm B&B, Laigh Tarbeg, only 4 miles away. If you would like something different, look up the Old School Dalleagles - a beautiful B&B set in the rolling hills just 9 miles away. Very spacious with dinner available in the evenings.
